October was a good month for additions, with a swap meet, a show, and club releases!
Technically, these could count as a September purchase, but they weren't delivered until October, so they count! I bought them from a friend, along with a third copy of the Deluxe Collector Club Darius. The Darius ended up being a second gold charm, so since I traded him I didn't include him in the picture. The Vintage Club mini Man O' War is lovely, and I'm pleased to finally add a Classic Mustang Stallion to my collection. This guy is a lovely example.
My first purchase of the month was not a Breyer! The October $99 Chips were named after coffees, and I happened to be having a mildly stressful work day. He was a much needed pick me up, I added a nice mule to my Chips collection, and he's named for one of my favorite coffee orders. Triple win!!
At Steel City Live, I had the opportunity to go through a lot of G1s for sale. As we know, G1s are my kryptonite! I selected a small number, and also snagged a couple of G2 Warmbloods I've been searching for. The QVC glossy bay in particular finally completes that set for me.
October is a Stablemates Club month, so I ordered Chickadee, and added the new 75th Anniversary Proud Arabian Family set and the Cuddles, the holiday Misty to the cart. I was pleased to find that the Proud Arabian Foal is a modern chalky! Her whites are bare plastic, but she was definitely basecoated white. Oddly, I don't think either the mare or stallion are. Cuddles is just adorable, and has fantastic shading. I love to see the Misty mold used for non-Misty runs. As for Chickadee, I was happy that I got my first choice! That never happens for me.
Okay, so I was bad. The problem with being at a swap meet with friends is you get enabled. The G1s came from the same lot that the previous set did. My friend straight up gave me the G2 TB keychain and the Chickadee (with the most fabulous mane masking! I've seen some rough masking on these guys but she is perfect). I bought the classic Mustang Foal and Arabian Stallion from two other sellers (we all know how I'm a sucker for a Love mold). Despite this, I was happy to end up making more money than I spent!
Coming in at the last minute is a florentine Darius! I lucked out and found a friend willing to trade my second gold charm for her florentine, so I'm at three of the four. Crossing my fingers that I'll find an affordable copenhagen soon!
